The Girodisc system is a direct replacement of the original disc, no modifications are necessary. The disc bolts directly to the car and works perfectly with the original equipment calipers. By upgrading your brakes with lightweight, high-performance replacement parts, as opposed to a large brake kit, you retain your factory specifications and the efficiency of your ABS system.
The center section of our rotor cap is made from 6061-T6 aerospace specification aluminum from the United States only. The disc is made from our own cast iron, cast in the United States and machined from start to finish at Girodisc. The rotor uses a curved blade design, developed in stroke to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.
The rotor and bonnet have a floating mounting system, which uses 10 high strength alloy steel drive shafts, manufactured by Girodisc in the United States to our own specifications and cadmium plated for durable corrosion resistance. These shafts support the braking action while maintaining axial and radial float between the cap and disc. Pins are fastened with class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers. In order to prevent the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with noise-reducing spring washers on the rotor side, which allows the rotor to grow with thermal expansion but eliminates the rattling and noise associated with floating rotors. This floating also allows the rotor to automatically center itself between the pads.
Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when necessary.
